Welcome to The Faces of September 11
Behind every name was a person. A parent, a child, a husband, a wife, a partner, a sibling, a friend, a colleague, or a neighbor. Each had their own story, their own dreams, and people who loved them.
Remembering the People
More than two decades have passed since September 11, but the lives of those who were lost should never be reduced to numbers or statistics.
The Faces of September 11 is about the people.
Through this blog, we hope to remember individual lives and share their stories with care and dignity. We will look beyond the events of that morning and focus on who these people were — their families, careers, interests, achievements, personalities, and the memories they left behind.
Their Stories Matter
September 11 changed the world, but for thousands of families, it changed something much more personal.
They lost someone they loved.
Every person remembered here had a life before September 11. They celebrated birthdays, went to work, spent time with friends, made plans for the future, laughed, loved, and created memories.
Those stories deserve to be remembered.
A Place of Remembrance
Our aim is to make The Faces of September 11 a respectful place of remembrance and reflection.
Each story will be approached with sensitivity, using reliable sources wherever possible and recognizing that behind every photograph and every name is a real person and a family whose loss continues to matter.
This project is dedicated to the victims, their families, the survivors, and all those affected by September 11, 2001.
May we continue to say their names, tell their stories, and remember the lives they lived.
Welcome to The Faces of September 11.
We remember.
